David Jones and BreastScreen Victoria announce Victoria's first in-store free breast screening service

7,000 Melbourne women to benefit from this new initiative each year

David Jones in partnership with BreastScreen Victoria today announced Victoria’s first in-store breast screening service at the new David Jones Bourke Street Mall store.

The Rose Clinic, a unique in-store clinic, will house ‘state of the art’ mammogram screening technology to offer free breast screening carried out by St Vincent’s Hospital, to more than 7,000 Victorian women aged 40 and over each year.

The service will offer Victorian women on the BreastScreen Victoria program a convenient
new site for their two yearly screenings.

David Jones Chief Executive Officer, Mark McInnes said, David Jones is committed to supporting
the fight against breast cancer, and we are proud to be able to provide this vital service free of
charge for the early detection of this life threatening disease to the women of Melbourne.

The centrally and conveniently located Rose Clinic in our new David Jones Bourke Street Mall store has the facilities to screen more than 7,000 women in Melbourne a year, a first for the city of Melbourne and a significant step forward in the fight against this heartbreaking illness.

This new association with BreastScreen Victoria, combined with our Diamond Partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation is of great importance to our customers, staff and shareholders and we are proud to make a further contribution to the community on their behalf. Mr McInnes concluded.

BreastScreen Victoria Chief Executive Officer Vicki Pridmore said the opening of the
David Jones Rose Clinic is a welcome addition to screening services in Victoria.

Finding convenient places for women to attend breast screening helps ensure that screenings are done on a regular basis. Being able to offer Melbourne women breast screening services in the heart of the CBD will be ideal for women working or living in the city, said Ms Pridmore.

We are delighted with the support of David Jones and the clinical services provided by St Vincent’s Hospital. Being able to offer an extra 7,000 screens a year will also help relieve the pressure on our very busy suburban clinics

St Vincent’s Melbourne Chief Executive Officer Patricia O’Rourke said The Rose Clinic concept is very much in keeping with St Vincent’s aim of providing healthcare in surroundings that encourage people to feel at ease. Being able to offer a first class clinical service in a comfortable, non-clinical environment can only benefit the women of Victoria.

The David Jones Rose Clinic will open on the 13th August 2010 and will be located on Level 3
of the David Jones Bourke Street Mall Women’s store.
