Her background includes roles in both local and state government, where she has worked across strategic and digital communications. She also has a foundation in journalism, having worked at a regional newspaper.
Kate managed the communications for Family Safety Victoria including the statewide roll-out the Orange Door service, which supports women and children experiencing family violence across Victoria. She has led public information teams during major public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and during extreme weather events such as major bushfires and floods. In 2024, Kate was awarded a National Service Medal for her work supporting communications during the 2020 Victorian bushfires.
She understands distinct audience behaviours across social media platforms and collaborates closely with the Fenton team to shape content for digital channels, including campaign websites and departmental social media.
Kate excels at turning complex content into clear, accessible key messages – ensuring essential information is easy to understand and reaches those who need it most. She has a strong interest in health prevention and promotion campaigns as well all government services, sport, recreation and community participation programs.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications from The University of Melbourne.
